Vaibhav Suryavanshi performs 45-run knock versus Pakistan A, maintains golden contact
Vaibhav Suryavanshi was coming a mind-blowing 144-run knock from 42 balls towards the UAE.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has maintained his golden touch. The 14-year-old had made a 32-ball hundred against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on his India A debut and has followed that up with a classy 45-run knock against Pakistan A in the 2025 Asia Cup Rising Star.
Although India A were playing Pakistan A at the same venue as they did the UAE, West End Park International Cricket Stadium, the surface was exactly opposite. Two days ago, Suryavanshi had scored 144 from 42 and the Men in Blue had ended up with a total of 297. But this surface was different.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s classy knock vs Pakistan A
Against the UAE, India A had scored 82 runs in the powerplay. Against Pakistan A, the score was just 50. The bowling was better and the pitch was tougher. The ball wasn’t coming on to the bat and at one point, Suryavanshi had scored just 26 from 20 balls. For his usual standards, this was extraordinary slow.
But that was the good part. The pitch was tough, and Suryavanshi changed his game accordingly. His couldn’t hit the ball through the line and that’s why he managed to hit just a couple of boundaries in the powerplay. He changed his game a bit. Looked for singles as Naman Dhir got going.
Once he got used to the Pakistan A spinners, he hit a couple of boundaries to Saad Masood and Sufiyan Muqeem. However, just before reaching his maiden fifty for India A, Suryavanshi holed out to Mohammad Faiq at long on with Muqeem having the last laugh.
But this knock wasn’t much less than the UAE one. Suryavanshi displayed a different side of himself. Shed his usually aggressive self and played as per the conditions. That’s exactly what a great player does. It’s great to see Suryavanshi learning on the way and become a better version of himself.
