Bhubaneswar: A scuffle broke out between Biju Janata Dal MLAs and Bharatiya Janata Celebration (BJP) in Odisha amid the voting for Rajya Sabha polls.
BJD has accused BJP of indulging “in horse-trading” within the Rajya Sabha polls.
“BJP indulged in horse buying and selling and purchased some BJD MLAs to get their votes. When BJD MLAs opposed them, they countered us and attacked our folks. This was unconstitutional. The regulation and order state of affairs within the state isn’t proper. When elected representatives usually are not secure, then how can frequent residents stay secure? We didn’t assault anybody. BJP MLAs attacked BJD MLAs. We condemn this,” MLA Sarada Prasanna Jena alleged.
Earlier at present, BJD chief and Chief of Opposition within the Odisha Meeting (LoP) Naveen Patnaik alleged irregularities throughout voting for the Rajya Sabha elections, claiming that election norms had been violated after a legislator was issued a second poll paper.
Naveen Patnaik instructed ANI that the MLA from the Brahmagiri Meeting constituency had made an error whereas casting her vote.
Patnaik mentioned the polling officer issued a second poll paper, which he claimed was in opposition to election guidelines.
The Brahmagiri Meeting constituency is at present represented by Upasna Mohapatra.
“The MLA of Brahmagiri had made a transparent mistake whereas voting. However the officer sitting within the voting room who’s in control of this has illegally accepted her vote and has issued a second poll paper. That is completely in opposition to the democratic norms and a violation of election guidelines,” Patnaik mentioned.
