Ranking DC’s squad after WPL public sale 2026

Last Updated: November 28, 2025By

DC went on to spend 5.5 Cr at WPL 2026 public sale, and made some nice purchases to construct an honest unit.

Three-time finalists DC had a tough task ahead of Thursday’s WPL auction 2026; to compile a squad that not only made the final, but also lifted the trophy. After finishing second, for three years on the trot, this time around, Delhi certainly looks like the team that can go the distance.

They had retained Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Annabel Sutherland, Marizanne Kapp and Niki Prasad, leaving them with a decent core. Yes, they got rid of the experienced Meg Lanning, but they got some other valuable players. Insidesport takes a look at the DC full squad for WPL 2026, and also rates it.

Hits for DC at Auction

Well-balanced side: This DC side seems to be built on IND-SA cooperation. Some of the best talents from both the nations are a part of this roster. Apart from the retentions, there is Sneh Rana, Shree Charani, Shafali and Jemi; and from the other side there is Kapp, Lee, and Wolvaardt.

All-rounders galore: Delhi also went high on all-rounders. They had retained Kapp and Annabel Sutherland, and then went on to bag West Indian Henry, Rana and Wolvaardt. It is going to be an epic XI for them in WPL 2026.

Captaincy options present: The DC management had suggested that they might opt for an Indian captain, and that could be Jemimah, but there is presence of a strong leadership group.

Misses for DC

Back-up issue: Barring their XI, the squad lacks depth. They seemed have utilised all their resources on forging the playing side well, and didn’t have enough to get good bench. Probably, deep into the tournament they might feel the effect.

Meg Lannning factor: To leave out the former Aussie skipper, is a bit concerning. She might be out of international cricket, but her leadership is what the team needed. Right now, it is a very young squad.
