Dhoni, who normally maintains a low profile on social media, penned a particular notice for India, with particular shoutouts to Gambhir and Bumrah.

Former Indian captain couldn’t help but heap praise on head coach Gautam Gambhir after the team won their historic 3rd T20 World Cup title on Sunday. The Men in Blue, led by Suryakumar Yadav, clinched a 96-run win against New Zealand in the final to become the first team to win the T20 WC at home. Dhoni, who usually maintains a low profile on social media, took to Instagram to pen a special note for India after the win, with special shoutouts to Gambhir and Bumrah.

Dhoni’s message to Gambhir

In a post on Instagram, Dhoni remarked that a smile looked good on ‘coach sahab’ Gambhir’s face, adding that the smile along with the intensity was a killer combo. He further added that he has nothing to say about Bumrah as the latter was a ‘champion bowler’.

History gets created at Ahmedabad, big congratulations to the team and support staff and to all the fans of Indian Cricket Team worldwide.such a pleasure to see all of u play.Coach Sahab smile looks great on u,intensity with smile is a killer combo, very well done.enjoy guys(BUMRAH ke baare mein kuch na likhoon tou hi acha hai.CHAMPION BOWLER),” Dhoni wrote.

Gambhir, who took over the reins of the team after the T20 World Cup 2024, has two ICC titles to his name so far – Champions Trophy 2025 and now T20 World Cup 2026. His next mission will be to help India break their 16-year-old jinx and win the ODI World Cup in 2027.

Talking about Bumrah, the pacer turned out to be India’s biggest trump card in a final once again. He finished with astonishing figures of 4/15 – the best figures for any pacer in a T20 World Cup final. Bumrah also overtook teammate Varun Chakravarthy to finish the tournament as the leading wicket-taker.
