England’s former captain Joe Root is heading the list of active batters with the most Test hundreds. Root, in particular, with his first century in Australia, achieved a big milestone. This was his 40th Test century. Only three other batters have 40+ Test centuries. Among active players, Steve Smith is in the second place with 36 tons, followed by Kane Williamson (33) and Usman Khawaja (16).

Joe Root

Joe Root is leading the list of most centuries among active players. He has scored 40 centuries. At home, Root has 24 Test hundreds, while he has 16 away from home. Before the Ashes, Australia remained the only place where Root could not assert his authority. But no more. With his century in the Pink-ball Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, he conquered the Land Down Under as well. Root has three centuries each in India and West Indies.

Steve Smith

Steve Smith is placed second in the list with 36 hundreds in 118 Test matches. He has 10424 Test runs so far and can add up, with Australia taking on the West Indies in the third Test soon. Out of his 36 hundreds, 23 have come against England and India.

Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson has 33 tons under his belt. He has smashed these hundreds in 105 Test matches. Williamson scores a Test century every 5.6 innings, which is even better than the likes of Smith and Root.
