IPL return within the ready for Yash Dhull as Central Delhi Kings star continues to impress in DPL 2025
Dhull is but to be dismissed within the DPL 2025 season. He is scored 100 and fifty already and we’re simply 2 matches in.
Yash Dhull was expected to be India’s next big thing. The former India Under-19 captain had earned himself an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract before turning 20. All was going well. But when the Delhi Capitals (DC) finally gave him a chance, Dhull couldn’t perform.
He batted thrice in IPL 2023 but only managed to score 16 runs at a 69.56 strike rate. It was such a failure that DC didn’t back Dhull again. He stayed with them from 2022 to 2024, but those three outings were it. During this time, Dhull also had some health issues.
Yash Dhull, hungry for IPL success
He underwent heart surgery in 2024 and missed the majority of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024. Fit again, Dhull has picked up from where he left off. He wasn’t picked at the IPL 2025 mega auction, but he’s hungry to return and show what he’s capable of.
The DPL had launched Priyansh Arya into the world last year, and Dhull knows scouts of IPL teams will have a keen eye on the tournament. In the second match of the DPL 2025 season, Dhull hit a stunning unbeaten hundred against Harshit Rana’s North Delhi Strikers.
Opening the batting for the Central Delhi Kings, he made short work of the 175-run target. In splendid form, Dhull has backed up that 101-run knock with another unbeaten score of 55 against the New Delhi Tigers. He’s played 90 balls in the DPL 2025 season and scored 156 runs, the most for anyone.
He’s averaging infinity right now, while his strike rate’s a sky-high 173.33. Everything seems to be clicking for him again. Still just 22, he’s someone the franchise might look to invest in at the IPL 2026 auction.
Dhull’s career T20 strike rate is just 124.21. This doesn’t scream a modern T20 batter. But he’s worked on his game. A big highlight of his two innings has been improved six-hitting ability. After two matches, Dhull has hit 24 boundaries. Out of 9, there have been sixes. That’s a 40-60 ratio of fours to sixes.
If Dhull continues on the same path, an IPL call will be around the corner. Perhaps his old team, the Delhi Capitals, will show interest in him since they didn’t have a whole lot of top-order batters in IPL 2025.
