Once again, Richa Ghosh has aced the role India Women have given her. The wicketkeeper batter has been the designated finisher ever since she made her ODI debut in 2021. But Richa failed to live up to the promise in the format. That was until the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025.

Richa’s entry point has been tactically delayed by Harmanpreet Kaur and Amol Muzumdar. The move has worked wonders. She’s played 3 cameos, including one in the semifinal against Australia, and also played a marvellous 94-run knock against South Africa in the group stage.

Richa Ghosh goes boom in Women’s World Cup Final

Come the Women’s ODI World Cup Final, Richa brought the same form she did against the Proteas. Many felt that Richa should have been sent in to bat after Harmanpreet departed on the last ball of the 39th over. But Amanjot Kaur was promoted ahead of her.

That meant when Richa finally came out to bat in the 44th over, she had the licence to smash the ball from the get-go. On the second ball she faced, the wicketkeeper deposited Nadine de Klerk for a six. She hit two boundaries in the 45th over and one each in the 46th and 47th overs.
