Resort costs in Ahmedabad up by 300-400% for T20 World Cup closing, flight fares to burn gap in pocket
India play New Zealand within the closing of the T20 World Cup, that has given a significant enhance to Ahmedabad’s tourism sector.
Things are moving as expected in Ahmedabad, due to the IND vs NZ T20 World Cup final in the city. The hotel prices have skyrocketed, and so have the air fares. As per a report in PTI, the tariffs for rooms have shot up by 300 to 400% now.
Pay a premium to watch IND vs NZ final in Ahmedabad
“There is a 300 per cent to 400 per cent increase in the room tariffs due to the high demand in view of the T20 WC final. Rooms which were available for Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 now have rates between Rs 15,000 and Rs 50,000,” Narendra Somani, president of the Hotels and Restaurants Association of Gujarat said.
In fact, Ahmedabad has roughly 10,000 rooms, which are expected to be sold not; are not sold out as yet. “We expect that all the hotels in and around the city will see nearly 80 per cent occupancy on Sunday due to the match,” he said. For the same reason, the fans are preferring to even stay in Gandhinagar, and then come to the stadium for the match.
Prices soar for flights & hotels
“What many people do, especially people from Bombay, is they leave in the morning by road. They arrive here by four or five o’clock and go straight to the match. They bring a driver and leave at night,” the source added.
As far the prices for the tickets is concerned, they have shot up too. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad sector that costs 3-4k generally is clocking 15-17k now. Delhi-Ahmedabad could cost around 14k, while Bengaluru-Ahmedabad could cost 13k. Just to cater to the fans travelling to Ahmedabad, Northern Railways has announced a special train (04062) to fetch the passengers from Delhi. The same is available for booking on the IRCTC website and app.
