IPL 2026 is still a few days away, but then it seems the teams and players are feeling the pinch already. Now, another foreign star has joined the injured list for IPL 2026, and this time it is England all-rounder Sam Curran, who was to play for RR. As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, it seems that the 27-year-old has injured his groin.

IPL 2026 injured list swells

The all-rounder was brought to RR as a part of the IPL trade deal between RR and CSK — where Sanju Samson went to the latter, and Ravindra Jadeja, along with Curran came to RR. In fact, it is believed that the franchise has already started looking for suitable options, but a decision is yet to be made.

Meanwhile, RR would have been Curran’s team in IPL. He had a bit of a roller-coaster, where he started out with PBKS in 2019, followed by CSK in the next two season. He came back to Punjab in 2023 and 2024, only to go back to CSK in 2025. There he had a decent season, where he picked up 5 wickets and went on to score over 100 runs.

Sam Curran ruled out

There have been quite a few injuries already this season; first one for RR. On Thursday itself, CSK’s Nathan Ellis was declared unfit for the entire season, due to a hamstring issue. There is no clarity on RCB’s Josh Hazlewood, KKR’s Harshit Rana is ruled out, while Matheesha Pathirana seems to be waiting for a green signal from his board.

LSG’s Wanindu Hasaranga is injured, and so are SRH’s Pat Cummins and Eshan Malinga. For some the replacements have come in already.
